Condi's Freudian Slip

A recent story making its rounds is about a little faux pas made by our very own National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice, in which she called Georgie-boy her "husband." Under most circumstances I wouldn't think much of this little slip, as on a rare occasion while thinking "I can't forget to get flowers for my wife," while simultaneously having a conversation with a friend, I may inadvertently provoke a little spoonerism on my part. But I wouldn't call these "normal" circumstances because Condi doesn't have a husband. In fact, she has never had a husband. So why on earth did she ever even think the word "husband," much less associate the word with George?
