It has been a busy day. Sidebar Manager has been met with a lot of enthusiasm, but the best was yet to come. The latest release marks the milestone of bringing Sidebar Manager into Beta status. This release is due in a substantial part to the efforts of Walt who made the promise of drag-and-drop sidebar modules a reality.

To be truthful, this plugin is due in large part to all the employees of Six Apart who are the biggest form of support for any of the plugins I (we) undertake. It is an honor to work there, and it is an honor to work anywhere where projects like these are encouraged and even seen as essential. I can think of no better place to work.

In any event, enough of my waxxing-poetic. While Sidebar Manager is officially in “beta” status, I feel more than comfortable using it to power all of my blogs. As soon as we can flush out the remaining nit-picky details, we can graduate the plugin to a “green” status.

I love Sidebar Manager! I have now successfully moved all sidebar elements out of my main index and into individual modules which makes it incredibly easy to edit both the modules themselves but also my main index! Thanks so much for this incredible plugin; this one goes straight to the top of my list of favorites and I will eagerly recommend to everyone I know who uses MT.

Just the tool I would be looking for coming off Typepad which had a number of customisation in the form of 'drag-n-drop'.

I have downloaded Sidebar, unpacked it, FTPd to my plugins directory, shows under plugins, but not under utilities or under the blog settings. There appears to be no way of configuring or 'dragging-n-dropping' anything. Any ideas if I've missed a step somewhere?

I use MT3.2

Thanks for a brilliant tool, even so. Just the minor detail of making it work remains!!

Re: Sidebar not working properly:

1, When you do the install via FTP, make sure you assign the correct permissions to this file, which should be 755.

2, On your main MT control, click on your blog name and it will take you to that blogs control panel. At the bottom middle section it says Plugin Actions, click 'Re-arrange My Sidebar'.

Thank should get you going. Hope it helps.

Also, apologies for not responding sooner, Robert, I hadnt really checked back for any responses to my comment here. I just followed a link in my webtraffic logs.
