Oil companies are becoming so adept at manipulating consumer expectation around prices I wouldm't be surprised if in a year from now I will be happy to be paying only $4 per gallon. And to top it all off (no pun intended) how come with oil companies having record profits, and with so much cash on hand, why are they not passing some savings onto their customers? In Europe, gas averages $4 or 5 per gallon. What we're paying right now is pretty cheap compared to that.

I think what we we should be more concerned about is getting vehicles with better mileage rates out on the road. My current car is a 95 Ford Escort with a great gas mileage. Within the next year I plan to get a new car, perhaps a Volkswagen, which has good gas mileage.
