I have finally pulled the trigger on ushering the process of getting TrackBack accepted as a core Internet standard. I may feel differently in a couple months, but for some reason I have always wanted to be a key player in Internet standard. First as an implementor, then as a participant, and now perhaps as a driver.

For fear that people might take my sentiments about being a "key player" a little out of context (http://photomatt.net/2006/02/21/better-trackback/)...

My interest primarily is in serving a greater interest and good. And I see the standards process as one of the best ways to achieve that. Think about it... where else on the Internet have successful, formalized democracies ever been taken shape? Not many.

My desire in being "key" is not about fame or pride, it is about my desire to being involved and not being satisfied with being a passive observer of the process.
