Back when I did my last redesign of this site I incorporated a new method of comment authentication, a technique I use to help me combat comment spam. For the longest time I relied exclusively upon TypeKey to provide this service. However, I had a few readers who stopped commenting because they refused to sign up for a TypeKey account for various reasons - which I invite them to comment on below. Of course they will have to authenticate prior to commenting, which they are now free to do because they are not limited to using TypeKey alone. They can now use any Open ID enabled service or application to post a comment to this blog.

Anyway, to signify that this blog is now “Open ID Enabled” I created the following button.

I noticed many people do like to register with TypeKey. However, it helped with cutting down comment spams. Is it possible to set the authentication to either TypeKey or Open ID?

Of course it is. In fact, just prior to my redesign I supported both Open ID and TypeKey, but when I changed my template code I lost those changes. I will need to re-integrate. The Style Contest has implemented a great user interface/experience with logging into TypeKey, AND LiveJournal via OpenID, as well as any other valid Open ID server.
