      <![CDATA[<p><img class="photo" style="margin: 0 0 10px 10px;" alt="onion.jpg" src="http://www.majordojo.com/images/onion.jpg" width="260" height="260" align="right" />I am surprised something like this has not been covered in <a href="http://www.cooksillustrated.com/">Cook's Illustrated</a>, because if it had Arin would certainly cry for joy. No pun intended. For Arin is one of the most susceptible people I know to the effects of a cut onion. She professes she has tried <a href="http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061114151700AAmLGgs&show=7">everything</a>, from having a bowl of water on the chopping block, to holding matches in your mouth. But I am not sure she has ever tried <a href="http://www.lifehacker.com/software/life-hacks/how-to-avoid-crying-when-chopping-onions-103803.php">this trick</a>. </p>

<p>Although I fear this tip will rob Steve of the humor that ensues when he is chopping onions and suddenly storms out of the room crying and saying something to effect of, "how could you say that to me?!" </p>]]>

	<![CDATA[<p>I find that refrigerating the onion for at least 4 hours before cutting does the trick.  If I have a room temperature onion, I wear sunglasses. ;o)</p>
