I really don't understand why everyone is so up in arms against giving the cat a bath. I love my cat to death and take great care of her and she gets baths a few times a year. She's super healthy with clean fur and we wash her and keep her clean from ticks and other things.
She's an indoor and outdoor cat who gets baths and she's happier than hell and healthier than crazy too.
I would never impugn someone for washing their cat, especially when they are doing it to care for them.
For me, for me, for me, for me... I would never wash my cat except for medical purposes. Cats have evolved and through that process have even been "engineered" to keep themselves clean. I would never put chemicals or soap in their fur for fear of even the remote chance that by later licking themselves they could be injesting anything bad for them.
If you are going to wash your cat, make sure you use a soap approved by your veterinarian. I direct that comment to the general public, not to you directly "the one you hate before you know."

If you look at the owner's site, you'll see that the cat had a skin condition that required bathing in order for it to recover.

In that case, by all means - bathe the poor guy. Now I am sad, but glad that he (she?) was treated.

although the cat looks scared to death giving your cat a bath is not going to kill it
