In my work with the Atom Working Group, which I admit, has been scant recently, I have become really impressed with the number of Atom Extensions being defined and developed by the community - a testament to Atom’s extensibility. One in particular, the Feed Thread Extension, authored by James Snell, is probably one of the most important because it is likely to be the one most quickly adopted by the market. I have been working with James on refining the specification for some time and am happy to announce the availability of a new Movable Type plugin [tentatively] called “Feed Manager,” a plugin that provides turn-key comment feeds for your Movable Type weblog.

Feed Manager provides more than just comment feeds however. It also provides these key features:

• Comment Feeds - allow your readers to track conversations and comments around individual posts on your blog.
• Podcasting Support - generate the necessary content in your feeds for media content you link to automatically so that people can download your podcasts from iTunes and other podcast directories.
• API Autodiscovery - allow third party clients like Flickr, ecto and others to more easily detect your preferred mechanisms for posting content into your weblog.
• Developer Framework - provides a framework for Movable Type plugin developers to register their own Plugin APIs within Movable Type so that other tools can discover them more easily.

Feed Manager is also compatible with Plugin Manager - making it easier than ever to install and start taking advantage of this plugin in a matter of minutes.
