Known Issues - submit your bugs here
Thanks to some of my dedicated users who have started reporting bugs and who have asked the all important question... "where do I report bugs?"
Well, right here.
I will keep this post updated with a list of known issues for the Media Manager Beta.
Known Issues
- Former users of BookQueueToo have noticed that they are having difficulty accessing records that have been previously linked to a specific entry. "Invalid character in attribute value [Ln: 1, Col: 45]"
- The layouts to choose from still need some CSS love.
- Users have reported having difficulty with publishing reviews. This appears to be related to Media Manager being unable to load the tmpl file for the review. I am investigating. If anyone has debugging turned on, please post what is logged by your system when you attempt to publish a review.
- Can't call method "get_config_hash" on an undefined value - this is an indicator that you do not have MTAmazon32 installed. Please consult the installation instructions.

Getting this one when I try to post a review
Can't call method "param" on an undefined value at /home/stfamcom/public_html/cgi-bin/mt/plugins/MediaManager/../../plugins/MediaManager/MediaManager.pl line 163.

When I edit old books from bookqueue too, I have lost the link to the review. It now says create review, it would be nice if when we edit the item if there was a field like in bookqueuetoo for the entry id. Something that you could fill in when we use the new system to create a review, but also to be backward compatible.

I'm having the same problem Tommy is reporting in his first comment.
The entry shows up in the list of entries, but not with the category I gave it and it doesn't publish either.
This is on a fresh install of MT 3.2 with just downloaded versions of MTAmazon32 and MM

When I try to add a DVD and click on the "Next" link to see more, the search feature automatically switches to books instead of DVDs. This is true regardless of the type of item being searched for.
Thoughts?

Forgot to mention, the link for the tag reference is down. This is my first time using your wonderful plugin, so I don't know how to add the listing to my site without some reference material (I couldn't find anything in the docs included in the download either).
Sorry for the double-comment.

An error occurred: Can't call method "getconfighash" on an undefined value at lib/MT/Plugin/MediaManager/App.pm line 89.
Posted by: Wibbler | August 27, 2005 9:54 AM
When I try and change the filter in list view it takes me back to grid view. Also would it be possible to have a show all option?
Posted by: Ryan | August 28, 2005 5:55 AM
I am having the same problem as Wibbler.

I'm getting the following error message when I try to add an Item to the Queue: Can't use string ("DevToken/SubscriptionId not foun") as a HASH ref while "strict refs" in use at lib/MT/Plugin/MediaManager/App.pm line 955.
It seems to be indicating that I do not have the Developer Token or Subscription ID. Where can I enter this information or do I have to put it right into the code?
Thanks for your help! ~Tanja

I am also getting the same error - [An error occurred: Can't call method "getconfighash" on an undefined value at lib/MT/Plugin/MediaManager/App.pm line 89.]

I have the same problem as Tommy and Sara (at the top of the comments). I have converted from MT 3.17 by doing a fresh install of MT 3.2 and MM and then doing an upgrade on my (BerkeleyDB) database...

If you are getting the error: "Can't call method "getconfighash" on an undefined value" then it appears that you do not have MTAmazon32 installed. I have added an error condition that will detect this in future versions. In the meantime, you need to check out the installation and getting started instructions at the URLs below:

I'm getting a lot of these in my logs as a file not found error
/mt-static/mmanager/images/stars-HASH(0x910d00c)-0.gif
the stars-0.gif file is there, but I don't know what the HASH{0x910d00c} is and its different hash values at times.

Has anyone else tried using any other Locale setting other than United States? Has anyone tried using any other locale?

Installed MM 1.0b7 and MTAmazon32 1.1 to my MT3.2 install. I can enter Media Manager from my blog admin. When I try to add an item, I can enter anything into a search and I get no results. Ever. I have added my Subscriber Id for MTAmazon32 in the main plugins page and edited the blog settings for my own Associate ID.

Has anyone tried posting a review yet? It's terribly broken for me. Here are the symptoms:
I can provide examples.
Any ideas?
Posted by: Stephen Collins | August 30, 2005 6:54 PM
I have a solution for the "no search results" issue. It seems I had a space appended to the end of my Subscriber ID in the Media Manager settings. Remove it and searching works just fine.

I get strange paths on Windows/Apache2/ like "http://my.site/MT31//plugins/MediaManager/%5CMT31%5Cplugins%5CMediaManager%5Cmmanager.cgi?_mode=view&blogid=4&show=all&acs=0&sort=finishedon&view=list&offset=0" and adding the example block, my blog opens with an error stating Page Not Found Smarty error: [in mt:153 line 104]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'MTBookQueueEntries' (SmartyCompiler.class.php, line 580)
(could be related to the strange path) Any idea? Best regards, Lutz

Byrne, really cool looking plugin and can't wait for it to work on my website. However, I cannot get it to work.
I have finally gotten MT 3.2 to behave (fresh install, upgrade killed my server for some strange, unknown reason) and all my blogs up and running.
Now, I am back to Media Manager.
The MTAmazon32 plugin is registered and the two settings tweaked appropriately with the /cache/ within the /mt/ home directory.
And, MM is registered also. The URL titled "Edit My Media Queue" is active, but when I click on the link the following URL action creates a Server 500 Error (my favorite error):
http://lbc.gotstogo.com/cgi-bin/mt//plugins/MediaManager/mmanager.cgi?;from=bloghome;blogid=4
I have tried tweaking the URL, but no luck. Any idea what's going on here? That URL looks really suspicious, weird, etc. (e.g. the double // in the middle and the use of semicolons).
Thanks.

Per my previous comment, Byrne said to check the CHMOD for the mmanager.cgi. They need to be set to world executable. That worked perfect! Thanks.
Ok, new bug... Byrne, I had to manually edit MTAmazon32.pl to remove your Amazon Associate ID. Also, I set my ID in all my blogs, but that didn't change anything (and the DEV ID is also set).
Sorry, I gotta use my ID... just trying to make so dough. Donation coming soon, BTW.
No need to respond.

Byrne, here's a minor one... It appears when editing the Entry ID to sort the products display on your web page that the values are not saved. I went back in to edit my entry ids, and they were gone.

Way to keep cranking the beta versions out, these are nice.
Would it be possible to make the author of the reviewer match the author of the user making the review? As it stands now, if I make a review, the author of that post defaults to the "Admin" account in my blog rather than me.
Thanks again!

There's a bug which represents information as weird characters when the local is 'jp'. You can fix it by modify just one line. lib/MT/Plugin/MediaManager/App.pm Line 1127 Modify xml.amazon.com to xml.amazon.co.jp Then everything gonna okay.

I just installed 1.0b9 and am stuck post-install. When I click on the "edit my media queue" link, I get a 500 page. The error logs indicate that the install script is run; the last line says "finished calling list_items", then I get the world-famous "premature end of script headers" error for /plugins/MediaManager/install.cgi.
Posted by: paulr | September 15, 2005 6:49 AM
Just installed 1.0b9 on a new install of MT 3.2 set up my associate id, but when i do a search nothing comes back and there are no errors, the associate id is correct.
My assoicate id is a UK localisation so i don't know if that's the problem
Posted by: owen | September 19, 2005 6:32 AM
Two bugs in 1.0b11.
FIrst, I only get one item shown in my "reading" queue and no items shown in my "unread" queue. See http://www.robichaux.net/blog/archives/001613.php for a link to my template file.
The second error is more serious. In b9 and earlier, I couldn't even see the "create new entry" page for reviews. Now I can see it, and I can create reviews, but posting them fails. The error message is "Error saving review: Insertion test failed on SQL error You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' , 1)' at line 3"

Strange occurance when I hit show details in edit queue screen. The detail box appears under the delete selected button. I can hit save and cancel, but cannot switch between compact and extended.
Using Firefox 1.5 beta 1. This is not replicated using Internet Explorer 6.

Does Media Manager support dynamic publishing? I get a Smarty error if I enable dynamic. When I chose static and rebuild the page, nothing happens, but viewing the source I can see tags. Nothing else happens.
Posted by: jamie | September 28, 2005 8:08 PM
I tested Media Manager with dynamic publishing to ensure that it worked. :-/

Have this plugin working fine but it does not want to display the "author" of either Music or DVD selections. Using the exact same code as for the books, is it an Amazon issue perhaps? I see nothing in the plugin interface that allows me to affect what data is pulled in from Amazon...

Hi guys,
I keep having this problem.
An error occurred:
Can't open schema file '\schemas\mysql.dump': No such file or directory at lib/MediaManager/Install.pm line 92.
installation is fine on a linux box but i get the error when trying to install on a windows box. its definitely on a perl issues as other plugins can install no problemo. i've also set all the permissions in IIS to execute but still can't solve the problem. any ideas?
Posted by: jamie | October 2, 2005 4:54 PM
first off i wanted to give you major props for this plugin. it's wonderful! and perhaps this isn't a bug, but i wasn't sure where else to put this...
when i click on the 'create review' link, it takes me to the entry creation page within mt with no code in any of the fields. did i install something incorrectly or am i doing something else wrong? has anyone else had this problem?

you can strike that last comment out. i realized in my haste to try out the plugin that i had not uploaded the alt-tmpl directory along with everything else. thanks again for this great plugin!

Hello. I recently upgraded to MT 3.2 and decided to upgrade from BookQueToo to Media Manager. The plugin looks great, and I'm eager to use it, but with every rebuild of my blog, I get one error in my activity log repeated many, many times:
At one point, during a long redesign process and multiple rebuilds, I had over 200,000 of these errors in my activity log! I've looked over the plugin's code, but I'm far from being an expert and don't know what to do. I found one other commenter at this weblog who mentioned the same error, but have been unable to find a solution. Since I have a cron job set up on my site to automatically rebuild the main index every two hours, I've decided to disable MediaManager for now. I'm not even sure if this error code is a result of a bug in the plugin, a problem with my recent upgrade to MT 3.2, or...? Everything else about the plugin seems to be working fine.
Any suggestions?

Great job on RC1!
I've noticed that when I'm listing my Media Queue, the filter at the top doesn't have a way to submit it. I can change options, but there's no way to make them apply. At least none that I can see.
Any tips?

I seem to be having major problems installing Media Manager. When I click on 'Edit My Media Queue', I am taken to the installation page. I click the Install button and am told that the installation was successful.
When I try to do anything; 'Import Amazon Wish List', 'Add Items to the Queue', or 'View the items', I am taken right back to the installation page. It is a continuous loop.
My Activity Log in Movable Type doesn't show anything having to do with the installation of this plug in.
I tried the debugging trick from this site and I see a lot of installation successful and every once in a while an error saying "Premature end of script headers: /home/ifeelpit/public_html/plugins/MediaManager/bqtupgrade.cgi"

I am having the same problem someone else mentioned, Media Manager died with: Can't locate object method "mode" via package "MT" at [path to my cig-bin]/cgi-bin/plugins/MediaManager/lib/MediaManager/Plugin.pm line 307.
Fills up my entire MT activity log, thousands of entries of it. Help would be appreciated.

RC2 is looking good!
When my periodic-tasks run and publish a scheduled post (not every time, only when a scheduled post is published), the following code results as part of the output:
Useless use of a constant in void context at .../plugins/MediaManager/lib/MediaManager/App.pm line 166. Useless use of a constant in void context at .../plugins/MediaManager/lib/MediaManager/App.pm line 166. "my" variable $finondisplay masks earlier declaration in same scope at .../plugins/MediaManager/lib/MediaManager/App.pm line 590.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I often receive this error:
"An error occurred: File does not exist: Error retreiving Amazon info: at lib/MediaManager/Util.pm line 66"
I formerly had installed BookQueueToo, as well as MediaManager Beta 9.
It has something to do with the number of entries being displayed -- I can go up to showing 15 entries without problems. Going to 20 or 75 or more will set off this error.

I get this error:
Build error in template 'Books': Error in tag: Error reading XML content: Not a quote character [Ln: 24, Col: 17] .
when I try
">" border="0">
If I decrease lastn to 25, everything works.

I have a wierd error during the install of MediaManager. It appears to take away a slash from the path, resulting in the following error (Incidentally, if I add the slash by hand, it kinda works halfway):
Multiple Choices The document name you requested (/mike/movableTypeplugins/MediaManager/mmanager.cgi) could not be found on this server. However, we found documents with names similar to the one you requested.
Available documents: /mike/movableType/MediaManager/mmanager.cgi?blog_id=1 (common basename) Please consider informing the owner of the referring page about the broken link.
Thanks, in advance for a great product.

I may be repeating known bug #3, "trouble publishing reviews," but this is my particular problem. When I save a review from the entry editing screen, the Media Manager image block doesn't publish. But after saving the review, if I then rebuild the entire site using Movable Type's "Rebuild Site" button, the image block publishes correctly.
Also, when I future-publish a review with MT's scheduled posting, the image block doesn't display and I have to specifically re-save the entry (after it posts) from the entry editing screen and then rebuild. If I rebuild without saving first, the image block still won't display. (This scheduled posting problem may be unrelated if it's simply a matter of the image block's HTML code not being inserted.)
I also notice that when editing and saving previously published entries, sometimes all of the reviews lose their image blocks. And then I weep. But rebuilding the site brings them back.
When I disable Media Manager entirely, the image block publishes correctly because the raw HTML for the image block is dumped in the Entry Body. Or is it that the HTML isn't being hidden? In that case, is the problem related to whatever mechanism that supresses the HTML code in the entry editing template? Or whatever reinserts the image block?
So basically, it's driving me batty. But I can always fix the problem by rebuilding the site, or with scheduled posting, re-saving the review before rebuilding.

I'm getting the same thing as "M":
An error occurred: File does not exist: Error retreiving Amazon info: at lib/MediaManager/Util.pm line 66
It isn't regular, though, and seems unrelated to how many items are listed for me. I just refresh until the MM screen comes up and am fine, but this occurs quite often.
Also, the Display Options box is showing up underneath most of the regular page in FireFox and is impossible to interact with. Looks like a z-Index issue, but it's hard to say. I have my listing set to Compact if that makes a difference, though I'm unable to change it unless I delete the cookie.
I'm looking forward to RC4 and what you have in store there!

HI, I have two related problems with Media Manager "Create Review" entry form. First, I have enabled Alternative Templates in my MT, because I wanted to customize my editentry.tmpl file. I have a custom editentry.tmpl file in my mt/exttmpl/cms folder. This seems to affect Media Manager because the same template opens when I try to do "Create Review" for an item. But when I disable this feature, and have MT use the default .tmpl files from mt/tmpl/cms folder, Media Manager "Create Review" form opens up (with ratings and all...) but when I click on Save, I get the following error: Undefined subroutine &MediaManager::Util::debug called at /home/zrinka/public_html/mt/plugins/MediaManager/lib/MediaManager/Plugin.pm line 314.
How can I make this work? Is there a .tmpl file in Media Manager that I can move to mt/exttmpl/cms folder so MT can see it? Is there another workaround?
thanks
z

I installed it and everything seems fine, until I tried to add something by ASIN: Error adding entry: Insertion test failed on SQL error Column 'mediamanager_catalog' cannot be null
When I tried to do a search for an item to put something into my queue, I get no results no matter which type of search I do.
Last but not least, when I go into my blog, then click on the Edit My Media Queue (under Plugin Actions) I get: An error occurred:
You are attempting to access Media Manager, but Media Manager is not able to determine which blog's media queue you are trying to access. Please return to the MAIN MENU and select the blog you would like to view and then click the "Edit Media Queue" link at the bottom of the page.
Help? It looks very promising, but only if it works ;)

Using Firefox 1.5.0.1, clicking "Show Display Options" creates a box that is partially obscured by the Delete Selected button and is unusable.

Clicking on the words "Media Queue" in the tab at the top of the queue takes me to a directory listing of mysite.com/mt/plugins/MediaManager/.
