Sorry to those who needed help - I took a week off.

I have a lot of Media Manager email to catch up on, and a lot of those emails are from users who have been having difficulty. My apologies to those users who have been waiting patiently for a response. I will hopefully catch up this weekend, and with any luck next week will see RC2, but I am waiting on a friend who volunteered to help with some Media Manager design and CSS. He is the designer behind Vicksburg, and being Movable Type 3.2, so his contributions will be huge, and I plan on waiting patiently for him to help.

In any event, I was sick this week, and just needed to take some time off from my obsessive hacking. But I am back.

For the record, I have made progress. :) Not enough progress, but progress nonetheless. Watch this space.

Oh my goodness. I hope you have made a full recovery.

Best of luck,

Did you hear that? Walt made progress. It takes every ounce of strength to restrain myself at work to keep from going up him and asking, "do you have anything I can look at?" I fail everytime.

Byrne,

I'm sorry if you explained this somewhere, but I searched and couldn't find the answer.

I am moving my blog over to my own domain, because my husband's blog has grown so large and popular, and I feel crowded out and invisible. Not that you need to know my sob story, but anyway, my old blog had the old numeric ID's for the URL's of each individual entry. My imported entries have the dirified title ID's. I can't figure out how to link book reviews I've already done with the proper Entry ID. The dirified title doesn't work in that space, and neither does using the Ping ID given on the entry itself. Any ideas how I can fix this? I have a Bookshelf page that links to all my reviews.

I figured it out! If you mouse over the link to unlock the basename, it gives you the Entry ID information.

If this is in there, I haven't found it, but it would be nice to set defaults for how we would like our reviews to look. I always do the same things, so is there some place to set it as default?

On my book review page I have the titles of the books, but they are not the edited ones that have in media manager. Is there different tag I should be using to get the title as it is in Media Manager as opposed to the tag that I'm currently using which gets the title from Amazon?

I love Media Manager! What a great application and demonstration of MT's extensibility. Look forward to reading your next article, as I harbor dreams of writing my own plugins at some point.

I have two questions:

  1. Where do I contribute?
  2. For some reason, picking the different layouts (1, 2 or 3) has no effect - the thumbnail displays on top regardless. You can see it on my site:

Thanks again for the wonderful tool/toy!

Is Walt going to fix it so that the review entries fit more seamlessly into everyone's templates? If you look at my book review entries, the first paragraph is off -- sort of like it isn't properly reading my stylesheet. If he's not going to fix that, do you know how I can fix it? I don't know which templates I need to alter, and I was afraid to guess and screw something up.

You're going to get so sick of me doing this, Byrne, but I figured out how to fix the error in my template. I had some fiddly CSS that padded p tags, but I didn't have the same code in the content class on its own. I fixed that, and now my reviews look nice.

In getting set up, I've noticed a couple of problems - bugs, perhaps? Anyway..

1) When I'm looking through my mediaqueue, the filter doesn't stick when I go to the next page. Just now I set it for "Showing all items in all catalogs, sorted by title in ascending order.". I click "older", and now it says "Showing all items in all catalogs, sorted by created_on in descending order." I can override it, but shouldn't that selection stick until I change it, or I start over?

2) The show display options isn't working right. See the following image for what I mean. With it like this I can't set any actual options. This is with Firefox v1.5ß2.

Great software - a massive upgrade over the original bookqueue, that's for sure. I've also kind of sort of done my own CD collection. MANUALLY. All of this manual, check this out:

Found another bug. If I set a "finished on date", and then go back into the entry to edit it further, said date is wiped out, I have to set it again if I want to to stay there when saving.
