Welcome to the Media Manager weblog
Well, the MovableType 3.2 Beta has finally been released. Of course, being an employee at Six Apart provides me the benefit of getting advanced access to Movable Type 3.2 while it was being released. To be truthful, I hadn't really intended on doing much with BookQueueToo aside from making sure it worked in MT3.2, but the moment I installed my MT3.2 test blog I was inspired to do so much more than simply make BookQueueToo compatible with the latest version. Before I knew I was obsessed. BookQueueToo was quickly turning into something else entirely, something much larger and potentially more significant than just a "Movable 'TypeList'".
Media Manager introduces the concept of "structured posts" to blogging. Granted, at this point, structure posts in Media Manager are relatively primitive compared to what I believe will be an incredibly compelling concept in weblogging, but it serves as an interesting test bed for the idea.
Using Media Manager one can not just link to an entry as you would do in BookQueueToo, but you can actually create an entry (or "review") from within Media Manager. Furthermore, you can select from a number of different layouts for your review, and you can even transform the image of the item you are reviewing right there in the posting interface in real time. That by itself is just fun to play with.
But as long as I am substantially rewriting Media Manager I figured that I should create an entire blog (this one) dedicated to the project. This will allow users to subscribe to a dedicated feed about the project, and for me to post more about the project without the fear of polluting my personal blog with relatively irrelevant posts.
That being said, let me apologize for this bland blog design. In the next couple weeks it will get a major face lift. For the time being though at least there is a place to get your Media Manager news, especially during this incredibly exciting MT Beta period when changes and notices will be published frequently.
So, anyway, everyone interested in Media Manager development and the Movable Type Beta should stay tuned to this blog and to the MT Beta Blog!

For those of you who have never used or installed MediaManager (or BookQueueToo), can you make a small static post about the point of MediaManager: - What is it? - How would one use it? - An example site (or screen shots of the output).
